What have we been up to?

Monday 15th June 2026

Woodland Class had a lovely time at Monkey World! They loved exploring the park and looking at the various primates. After lunch, they had a workshop where they learnt about how the site looks after the primates.

The children absolutely loved the experience and thoroughly enjoyed looking at the different primates.

Thursday 4th March 2026

As part of our Geography unit about Coastlines, the class went on a trip to Lulworth Cove. There, the day started with us learning more about what we typically see in a coastal town and going on a hunt to find all the typical things such as: a cafe, a beach, cliffs, stacks and even a fish and chips shop!

We then learnt in more detail about what physical and human features are and where on the coast we would typically see them.

After lunch, we then learnt about erosion and saw how the sea was affecting the cliffs on the coastline. We then had a look at an arch and cave and discussed how the waves from the sea eroded the cliffs to create these physical features.

Wednesday 10th December 2025

To finish our DT unit for this half term, the children were asked to follow a recipe (after understanding the purpose of a recipe) to create Eton Mess.

The quality of the desert was better than expected and the children loved the experience.

Monday 8th December 2025

As part of our DT unit, the children tested out different tools with the aim to be able to understand what tools is most effective for a specific task and be able to explain why.

They will be using their understanding of using the correct tools for the job when they come to make Eton Mess later on in the unit!

Monday 10th November 2025

PIRATE DAY!

As part of our Writing unit, the children had a pirate day where we went into further detail about pirate life. They created their pirate names and applied for jobs on Captain Harris’ ship. We then experienced what a dinner on a pirate ship would of been like. This is where they sucked on lemons to keep scurvy away, had water and ate dry biscuits because the cook ran out of food! We then finished by singing sea shanties!
