Vision and Values

At Shillingstone CE Primary, we believe that our vision and values should guide everything we do—from the way we learn in the classroom to how we treat one another on the playground.
To ensure our foundation remains relevant for our current students and families, we have recently undertaken a comprehensive review of our existing vision (For the body is not one member but many) and our core values (Friendship, compassion, respect and trust).

The Journey So Far
Since September 25, our staff and students have been engaged in a process of reflection and consultation. We have explored various Bible passages to find the words that best speak to the needs of our school community in 2026.
Our goal was to identify the character traits that will most benefit our children as they grow. We are now delighted to share a proposed new framework that we feel captures the heart of our school.

Why this change?
It is recommended that schools review their School Vision and Values every 3-5 years. Our current School Vision has been central to the school for many years. While it has served us well, we believe it is now an appropriate time to review these and consider if they are still relevant for our school today.

Our New Vision

“Do everything with love.”

This vision is rooted in 1 Corinthians 16:14: “Be on the alert. Stand firm in the faith. Be of courage. Be strong. Do everything with love.”

This biblical teaching emphasises the importance of love in all aspects of life, guiding how we interact, learn, and grow together. By embracing this vision, we encourage pupils to approach their learning, friendships and challenges with kindness, understanding and patience. It serves as a daily reminder that love, in its many forms, is a powerful force for good, fostering a harmonious environment where everyone can thrive.

Our Core Values
To bring this vision to life, we have identified three values that will drive our daily actions:

● Courage: Having the strength of spirit to keep going.
● Curiosity: Have a love of learning for life.
● Compassion: Putting our faith into action through our treatment of the world.
