We are delighted that you might be considering Shillingstone CE Primary School for your son or daughter and invite you to visit us to meet the children and staff of the school and to experience the life of the school first hand.
We are a small, village primary school that has an inclusive and caring atmosphere. We have an open door policy, where parents and families are actively encouraged to come into the school and where everybody is made feel welcome. We are committed to providing high standards of learning for all children, following a varied and engaging curriculum.
All children are supported and motivated to reach their full potential. This is achieved by setting clear learning goals for all children of all abilities, with strong staff parent partnerships to support further learning at home. We are a school where every child is nurtured and valued.
We have a clear vision for the school which is
“Do everything with love” (1 Corinthians 16:14)
To bring this vision to life, we have identified three values that will drive our daily actions:
● Courage: Having the strength of spirit to keep going.
● Curiosity: Have a love of learning for life.
● Compassion: Putting our faith into action through our treatment of the world.
We have an admission number of fifteen, with four classes across the school. Jungle Class has Reception and Year 1 children; Woodland Class has Year 2 and Year 3 children; Ocean Class has Year 4 and 5 children; and Desert Class has Year 6 children.
We pride ourselves on knowing every child within our school. Before starting school in Reception class we offer home visits for everyone to make sure we really know your child and their individual needs right from the beginning. We understand that every child progresses at their own speed and we ensure that all pupils’ progress is assessed regularly, learning targets are set for individuals and these are shared with parents regularly.
We run a Breakfast Club, which runs between 7:45am – 8:30am every morning. We provide many after school activities between 3:15 – 4:15pm.
We have an amazing, purpose-built, modern building which we moved into in November 2010. It has many exciting facilities including a large hall, library resource area, cooking kitchen, new and up-to-date ICT equipment, as well as large school grounds with several pieces of climbing equipment, wooded areas, a large landscaped amphitheatre and a spiritual garden.
