Welcome to Jungle ClassAll of the Reception children and Year 1 children are in Jungle Class. Our class teachers are Mrs Bray and Mrs Panther. Mrs Bray works Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Mrs Panther works Thursdays and Fridays. Our teaching assistants are Mrs Bell, Mrs Suter and Miss Whelan.

World Book Day 2026
6.2.26 Riley Dog came in to class today to listen to some of the Year 1 children read their persuasive letters. He enjoyed them very much!

Marble run
Reception had to work together to create and test their own marble runs.
Changes
As part of our “Let’s explore” topic, our Year 1’s went looking for changes that were happening.
Our trip to Longleat!
The children had a fantastic day out at Longleat Safari Park. We saw lots of animals and enjoyed a picnic in the shade. Apparently, it was “the best day ever!”
Dinosaur Day 2025!
What a roarsome day we had in Jungle Class today!! A brilliant way to round off this half term!

World Book Day
We had such a great day, dressing up as our favourite book characters, decorating our classroom door in a Gruffalo theme and sharing lots of stories!
Great Jungle Bake Off!
Today we worked in groups to bake cakes. Lots of teamwork and talking was needed and apart from putting them in the oven, no adult help at all!
We all agreed the cakes were delicious and everyone received a handshake!
Sports Day!
Due to the weather it wasn’t quite the sports day we had planned, but we still had a fantastic morning or sport. The team spirit was amazing and everyone did so well in taking part.

Careers and Aspirations Week
What a great week we have had. The children loved dressing up in their ‘jobs’ clothes! We enjoyed having Mr Panther in our class after his talk to the school, so that we could have a closer look at the police things. Some children wanted to have a go at trying it on!
Class trip to the Sealife Centre
We had a very exciting day at the Sealife Centre. Our favourite creatures were the sharks, the seahorses, the turtles and the jellyfish, but we were fascinated by all the animals that we saw. We enjoyed a picnic lunch and a play in the adventure playpark.

Our Topic this half term is called On The Beach.
In the On the Beach project, your child will learn about animals that live in rock pools and on the seashore. They will learn about the animals that live in the sea and find out about worldwide seas and oceans. They will explore the importance of looking after the environment to keep living things safe. They will learn about staying safe at the beach and find out about people who help us.

Fire Safety – 4.5.23
The children enjoyed their fire safety session. They acted out putting out a fire and got the chance to dress up as fire fighters, as well as learning all about how we can keep ourselves safe if we hear a fire alarm at home.

We love reading!
We really enjoyed our Love of reading afternoon. We read Stickman and created our own Stick people and family trees.
Senses!
As part of our Human Senses topic we carried out different activities that tested how we used our senses. We were very good at using our senses to identify different things, but the taste test did make us pull some very funny faces!

Weymouth Sealife Centre Trip
We had a fantastic day at the Sealife Centre and we saw so many different sea creatures, some of them were very funny looking. Our favourites were the sharks, rays, starfish and jellyfish.
